Alresford Cup

Berkshire, Dorset, Hampshire, Kent, Middlesex, Surrey, Sussex and Wiltshire all played for the prestigious Alresford Cup this year (donated by the Ladies of Alresford GC and held at Alresford Golf Club).  A team consists of six junior girls who each play an individual full handicap Stableford round, the best four scores to count. Each team consists of one player in handicap range 0-9, two players in handicap range 10—15, two players in handicap range 16—24, and one player in handicap range 25—30. This team is selected by the County Junior Organiser

On a glorious early Autumn Sunday morning 8 counties met at AGC to play in this year’s Alresford Cup. The sun shone for most of the day with only a couple of short, sharp showers but the girls all came through and scores were good.

Haruhi Nakatani from Hendon Golf Club playing off 22 and for Middlesex carded 41 stableford points an will receive a healthy cut as will several of the other girls.  The CSS was 71

However it was the on form 2016 Junior County Match week winners and winners of the recent SR Girls Championship team shield who just won through with a score of 140 sealing Kent’s win over Wiltshire by 1 point.

Kent’s Junior Captain Nicola Smith, in her last year as a junior, thanked her team for their steady scoring and support and all the organisers and wonderful Alresford GC Shepherds for making it such a memorable day again. Thanks also to Mike Roe from Alresford for taking all the lovely photos throughout the day.
