Jersey junior girls had a good summer with ten girls taking part in “The Race to Royal Jersey”.
This competition is open to girls with or without handicaps, from different clubs or not attached to any club on the island. Nine hole competitions are played at four courses over the summer holidays with the final day at Royal Jersey combining the “Race” with the 18 hole Royal Jersey’s Junior Girls Open, the Carol Le Feuvre Cup.
Each competition has its own presentation at a cheap and cheerful burger and chips type supper which encourages the girls to enjoy the social side of golf. Points are awarded at each competition but only three out of the four are accumulated to find the final winner of the “Race”, this allows for the odd missed competition due to family holidays.
The 2017 “Race” was a close run event with all to play for on the last day with the eventual winner being Megan Duffin, runner up was Lily Buckley both from La Moye GC.
