Hampshire Junior Girls’ Autumn Meeting 2017
Thursday, 26th October
Meon Valley Golf Club
18 – Hole Stableford
(Handicap limit 36)
On a typically grey October day, 20 girls assembled for the Junior Girls’ Autumn Meeting at Meon Valley Golf Club.
The course looked fantastic but albeit in damp conditions meant, the long holes especially, the course was playing long with anything off the fairway a test in long rough.
The girls were sent out in threes and were soon in good spirits, with some very good golf being witnessed by plenty of the parents and ladies from around the county.
After 9 holes, it was very apparent that the scores were going to be tight at the end. The final scores started to drift in and although being a test the scoring was of a high calibre throughout the field.
All the girls were soon changed and enjoying their after match meal and then onto the presentation.
At the Presentation we were joined by Mark Mills-Goodlett from Winchester Motor Group, who have kindly sponsored the Hampshire Girls Performance squad for the next couple of seasons. Captain Georgina Carter was presented with a momento and flowers from the squad for her great work throughout the season.
With a fantastic winning score of 38 points, this years Dot Hayward Trophy winner was Jenny Myers from Alresford GC, runner-up with 37 points Stevie Crozier-Hunt (Corhampton) and 3rd place Brooke Macarthur (Stoneham).
Amelia Williams (Royal Winchester) was presented with the scratch award from the meet along with the Kerry Smith award for commitment for the year.
Mark also presented other awards traditionally presented at our Autumn Meeting. Jasmin Jury (Meon Valley GC) won the Presidents Cup, which is awarded for the best score on the day from a player that has obtained her first handicap in the playing year.
Gemma Burgess was awarded the La Moye Salver for the largest handicap reduction in the year.
Katie Biddlecombe (Romsey GC) was 2017 Summer Knockout Winner. Katie won on the first extra hole at Hockley Golf Club in a great final against Hannah Dymott (Meon Valley GC).
