Match Report: Stovold Trophy vs Kent

After all the very hot weather it was lovely to arrive at Basingstoke on a cooler day, even the drizzle was welcome! The first 2 matches in the morning foursomes finished on the 14th with Hampshire winning 1 match and Kent the other.

The 3rd match was nip and tuck all the way with Hampshire winning on the 18th to go 1 up which gave us a 2/1 lead going into the afternoon singles. Once again the 14th was a popular to hole win on with 3 matches finishing there, all going Hampshire’s way. The other 3 matches were closer, one won on 16 and the last 2 going down the 18th.

Jane Scott put up a great fight but just lost on 18 while Sue Lewis, 2 down with 2 to play, saved her best till the last, winning both holes to halve her match. The overall result a win to Hampshire 6 ½ to 2 ½.  Thanks to a great effort by all the team, all matches enjoyed and played in very good spirit.

Many thanks to Basingstoke for their hospitality and to the green staff who had the course in great condition for us.
