Corhampton was in superb condition and the sun shone on us for our last match against Surrey. The morning foursomes got underway and early on Hampshire were up in all 3 matches. Surrey fought back hard and we went into lunch tied with 1 ½ points each.
The team were determined to get at least the 3 ½ points we needed for a win, some great golf was played, all in very good spirit and most of the matches were very close. With the score at 4 matches each, the last match teed off on the 18th all square, but a fantastic 2nd shot from Becky Scott landed on the green, finishing with a birdie 4 to her partners par, a win for her and the team by 5 matches to 4. A great way to end our last match. Thanks to Corhampton for looking after us so well and to the team for such a superb effort.
I would like to thank everyone for their support whilst I have been 2nd team captain and to all the ladies who have played in the team over the past 2 seasons. We have a great squad and I’m sure we will lift the Stovold Trophy again soon!
