South Winchester Golf Club
18 hole medal (full qualifier) – handicaps 21-36
The course at South Winchester was very well presented with true but tricky and well maintained greens. The sun never really showed itself and the breeze was a challenge but still a pleasant temperature for the 59 ladies playing.
As the CSS rising to 77 shows, many found the conditions difficult but there will be a handful of cuts tomorrow morning for those who kept the double digit scores off their cards. It is really pleasing to see handicaps tumble towards the end of the season and thank you to everyone else for taking part.
For those who played in Championship week back in May when we visited Royal Jersey, their scores are added together to get an aggregate. 15 ladies were eligible for the aggregate trophies but there was a clear winner with Stoneham’s Jane Palmgren scoring a nett 146 gross 195.
Our congratulations go to all our winners from Alresford, Army, Blacknest, Hayling, Royal Winchester, South Winchester and Hockley who were 6 clubs from only 16 across the region to take part. Next year’s event is a stableford, so please all make a note to play in both the Bronze Championships at Hockley and then the Autumn meeting at Romsey.
All the staff at South Winchester were most welcoming and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. Special thanks go to Lady Captain Jane O’Hara and Club Delegate Karen Sprunt for taking time off work and rallying the ladies of South Winchester into either helping or playing in this end of season event.
