A truly glorious start to the golfing season was had today at Royal Winchester as 39 pairs fought for the title of Foursomes Champions.  On a very pleasant day, course conditions were good but many could not cope with the greens with tales heard of balls running through them.

However, scoring was good with, what is a testing format, and well done to all who played and picked up prizes.

Thanks go to the husbands who acted as starters and to Judy Ames and Alma from Royal for manning the registration desk and to all who contributed to LC Elise Witt’s Charity Planets donating £255.

However, the clear winners of both the scratch and nett trophies were Kerry Smith (Waterlooville) and Di Oram (Basingstoke).  Helping to secure their clean sweep was Di’s hole-in-one at the 148yd par 3 11th, for which County Captain, Debbie Tapply,  presented Di with a bottle of Champagne.  Di also bought drinks to celebrate for all in the newly appointed clubhouse, which has seen quite a makeover in the past year.  Congratulations to you both for a spectacular round of 70 nett 68½.
