Heather Evans – Past County Captain and County President
Heather died peacefully on Thursday 2 July at the Chestnut Care Home in Haslemere. Heather, a physiotherapist, started playing golf as a youngster at Camberley Heath GC in Surrey. She moved to Cheshire as an adult but came back south and joined Liphook and Hampshire. In 1979 Heather was co-opted onto the County Committee as Hampshire’s Standard Scratch Score Assessor. County Captain for 1984/85 and President in 1992-1994. She became an England Selector in 1983 and Chairman of Selectors in 1985. She played for the County First Team 1975-1982 and was made an Honorary Life Member of HLCGA in 1997.
