Tomorrow there is going to be a hosepipe ban in this cosy part of southern England. The rain is still up there but has not fallen on the plain for some considerable time now. And as every golfer who plays on a course without irrigation knows, this can only mean a few things such as extraordinary hard ground, bare lies, enormous roll, but very weird bounces!!
92 women from various clubs in Hampshire took on the parched fairways at Lee-on-The-Solent Golf Club today and in relatively calm conditions tried to master the bounce.
There were 6 winning pairs in total with home players featuring as well as a fairly large family contingent.
6th place with 40 points OCB were local players and mother and daughter combo of Kate Dymott (Lee-on-the-Solent GC) and Abby Dymott (Meon Valley GC).
5th place, also with 40 points, was big sister Hannah Dymott (Meon Valley GC) and Katharine Torlot (Lee-on-the-Solent GC).
4th place, also with 40 points, were Jackie Coulson and Caroline Warne (Alresford GC).
3rd place with 41 points OCB were local players Cathy Davies and Ruth Donnelly.
Runners Up with 41 points OCB were Diane Boddy and Launa Kirk (Sandford Springs)
This year’s winners from Romsey GC, with a brilliant 43 points – Sue Rorrison and Angela Foster. This was believe it or not Angela’s first ever Hampshire competition so a great win for them.
Thanks as always go to Lee-on-the-Solent GC for hosting us and all the helpers there, as well as to Captain Jill England, President Jane Scott and Eilean Cunningham for stepping in and acting as course marshals.
