Women in Golf Charter

Hampshire Ladies Golf (HLG) became a signatory of England Golf and the R&A’s Women in Golf Charter in February 2022, after we submitted a detailed proposal outlining our plans to help grow female golf participation in the County, including the Channel Islands and the Isle of Wight. Our certificate is shown below and can be accessed here >>

We are committed to playing our part in developing a culture that values women’s involvement in every aspect of the sport. We have made a number of commitments and we hope that their combined effect will help encourage more women and girls to play the game and pursue careers in the golfing industry.  We are passionate about promoting the Charter and hope that our actions will encourage our affiliated clubs to make similar commitments and become Charter signatories. Here are more details about the R&A Women in Golf Charter

How do we at Hampshire Ladies Golf plan to achieve this?

  • We will continue to deliver at least three initiatives annually targeting women and girls that are aligned with key England Golf (EG) campaigns;
  • We will continue to promote a retention pathway for junior girls and Intermediates to progress within the county;
  • We will review our playing opportunities in order to increase female participation in Championships and County events;
  • We will review and implement effective communications, including our social media presence, to ensure effective engagement with our affiliated members and to promote the golfing opportunities HLG has on offer;
  • We will continue to be a SafeGolf accredited county and ensure our policies and procedures remain up to date; and
  • We have appointed a designated Charter Champion (Eilean Cunningham) who will assist with the promotion and reporting of the Charter.
