HAMPSHIRE LADIES GOLF VETERANS CHAMPIONSHIP
WEDNESDAY 26TH JUNE 2024
The 2024 HLG Veterans Championship took place at Royal Winchester on the hottest day of the year, with temperatures over 25 degrees. 69 Ladies teed off with umbrellas, hats, sunscreen and copious amounts of drinks from 9.26 until 12.46, 36 in Div 1 and 33 in Div 2. The course was in lovely condition and the greens were quite slick with one or two cheeky pin positions to test the competitors. It had been Club Championships at Royal the previous weekend and they left the flags as they were. The heat took its toll and many of the Ladies looked exhausted when they finished. There were some good scores on a really tough day. We were looked after by the Club following a tough round with a superb lunch.
Thank you to all the starters, referees and all the Royal Winchester members who helped with ball spotting on the day, the ladies really appreciate all your help. Also a big thank you to Pauline Davis who manned the scoring table all day, inputting all the results.
